What is the MAHA Music Festival > This year, it's a one day music festival on Saturday, July 24th, 2010, combining national, regional and local indie and rock artists at the Lewis & Clark Landing in downtown Omaha along the Missouri River. Where is Lewis & Clark Landing > Lewis & Clark Landing sits directly east of Rick's Cafe Boatyard, at 515 North Riverfront Drive, in downtown Omaha on the west bank of the Missouri River. Entry to Riverfront Drive is accessed on the south by Dodge and Eighth Streets and on the north by Abbott Drive. Nearby you will find North Downtown, featuring one of America's top rock clubs, The Slowdown, and arthouse theater Film Streams. Directly to the north is the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge to Iowa. A few blocks west is Heartland of America Park and Gene Leahy Mall. South of that is the historic Old Market. What is weather like in late July > The average high temperature in Omaha in July is 87 degrees with light humidity and light winds normal. We recommend you bring sunblock! Sunset will be at 8:49 p.m. on July 24th. What if it Rains > MAHA will continue rain or shine. No Refunds. Can I bring my kids > Yes, anyone with a ticket is welcome to join the fun. All ages are welcome! However, if you don't know about it, you should look up song No. 6 from Superchunk's debut album so you are prepared for any questions (since we do expect that it will be played). Children ages 8 and under do not need a ticket as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult. Where do I park > Parking is reserved for Rick's Cafe patrons and MAHA production team members ONLY in the parking lots directly west of the restaurant. Parking is open to the public in Gallup's parking lots to the north (free) and Qwest Center's Parking Lot A off of Riverfront Drive ($8/day). There is plenty of street parking in downtown Omaha and in public parking garages. Can I buy tickets at the box office on the day of show > Yes, walk up purchases are possible until we have sold out. However, our ticket price increases from $33 to $38 on the day of show. Also, any discount codes you may have available to you through one of our sponsors will not work on the day of show. How does seating work > All tickets are general admission, so those that get their earlier in the day will get better seats. If you want to look up Britt Daniel's nostrils, you better get there shortly after the gates open at noon. When will the festival end > Music will start at 12:30pm and be done by 11:00pm (City makes us or we'd go longer). For specifics about when a particular artist is going to perform, please visit our website. What about handicap access? There are reserved handicap parking spots directly west of Rick's Cafe and a handicap entrance near the main gate. What can I bring > Basic lawn chairs and blankets are allowed. The surface of Lewis & Clark Landing is a smooth, decorative concrete. We encourage you to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, hats and/or visors. We reserve the right to inspect all bags, purses, backpacks, etc. before allowing entry to the Festival. And no, couches are not allowed. Can I bring a cooler > You can not. No outside food or drink will be allowed. What food and drink will be available > There will be a wide variety of local food and drink available from our vendors - Mangia Italiana (Italian), McKennas (BBQ), The Parthenon (Greek), eCreamery (gourmet ice cream), Pink Shugar (gourmet cotton candy) - and beverage sponsors (Bud, Bud Light, Corona, Tallgrass IPA, Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat, Coca-Cola, Coke Zero, Sprite, Monster Energy). We'll also have plain, ol' water available because, shocker, it is quite likely to be hot. Can I leave and come back > You may until 8 p.m., but please keep your ticket and wristband with you at all times. Will cameras or recorders be allowed > Small or disposable cameras will be allowed on the Landing. Professional cameras will NOT be allowed. Video and audio taping are NOT allowed. What about event security > Event security will be located throughout the Landing for the entire duration of the event. If you have an EMERGENCY, find a staff person with a radio, go to an information tent, medical tent, or tell one of the security personnel. How can I volunteer > The organizers of the MAHA Music Festival believe this is a community effort and we welcome community volunteers that can help us grow this event. Although most volunteer positions for MAHA 2010 have been filled, we still have a few open positions, mostly from 7-11pm on the day of the show. If you'd be willing to help us at that time, please send an email to info@mahamusicfestival.com. RULES AND REGULATIONS. NO PETS ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS. Unauthorized vending is not permitted. NO illegal drugs, weapons, or fireworks are allowed on the Landing grounds. CONCEALED WEAPONS ARE NOT PERMITTED. Violators will be ejected from the facility and subject to prosecution under local, state, and federal laws. Were serious folks. Underage drinking is strictly prohibited. Park only in designated parking areas. If your vehicle is found in an unauthorized area it will be towed. No glass please. Respect the environment. Please use trash and recycling bags provided by the festival. Please listen to and respect all staff members, whether it is a parking attendant or a police officer. Your safety and well-being is their #1 concern. Finally the most important rule of all: The golden rule. Please be respectful of your neighbors and consider their comfort. Whos helping pull off MAHA? The MAHA Festival intends to become a multi-day event featuring musical, visual, performance and culinary arts in multiple venues throughout the metro Omaha-Council Bluffs area culminating in a weekend outdoor music and arts festival. What does MAHA mean? Besides being a really fun word to say, MAHA (pronounced mδ-hδ) means many things in languages from around the world, including "wandering nation" in Anglicized Native Indian, "great" in Sanskrit, "beautiful" in Spanish, "beautiful but shy" in Arabic and "moon" in Urdu.
